Maw and Co, border design of entwined foliage between guilloche borders

Maw and Co dust pressed tile with a transfer printed and hand coloured (Over-glaze) border design of entwined foliage on a geometric patterned ground, between quilloche borders, printed in brown outline with polychrome enamels, 6" square, c1890. The vulnerability of Over-glaze decoration is evident on this tile. Much of the colour has rubbed away with use.
