Bernard Leech, St Ives, Cornwall

Best known as one of Britain's most important studio potters, Bernard Leach also created a number of tiles in his own high-fired stoneware material, often decorated with wonderful stylised oriental landscapes. Most were 4 inches square but he also did a number of 9 inch tiles, often made into tile panels depicting tigers etc. He also used commercial blanks from Candy and Co on occasion.
